About the Opportunity
The Link: Youth and FamilySupports is looking for two Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant that is responsiblefor delivering HR best practices and HR solutions that support The Linksmission vision values and policies.
Reporting to the Chief People and Culture Officer the Senior Human Resources Consultant is accountable for the provision of accurate and timely human resource management advice and consulting services to leadership and employees. This position will provide full lifecycle HR support serving as a trusted HR advisor providing both strategic and hands
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with Leadership on organizational design workplace planning performance management and employee engagement
- Coach leaders and employees to support development conflict resolution and effective team dynamics
- Interprets collective agreement and non-union policies works with leadership on application of progressive discipline and grievance processes participate in collective bargaining supports the planning and implementation of Labour Adjustments Initiatives
- Provide Coaching and counseling to address issues related to performance management attendance management and respectful workplace complaints
- Ensures compensation plan and reward and recognition programs are equitable and in line with the organizations goals and total rewards philosophy
- Ensures consistent and equitable application of organization policies and procedures. Including assisting in the interpretation and education on HR policies collective agreements and provides counseling on such policies as necessary with both leaders and employees
- Investigates workplace complaints facilitates dispute resolution conduct exit interviews
- Work with the programs to deliver and facilitate developmental opportunities for employees which may include performance management succession/workplace planning compensation/benefits organization/team development and change management
- Manage specific projects as determined by the Chief People and Culture Officer and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives. Compiles with all existing government labor and legal reporting requirements to minimize company exposure to lawsuits and manages sensitive and confidential information
- Coordinate and manage the processing of employee leave of absence cases which includes administering Short Term claims (paid/unpaid sick leave) Long Term Disability claims Workers Compensation claims MPI Service Canada Sick Leave Benefit Educational and Personal Leaves
- Work with program areas and managers in organization design and re-design expertise in reviewing and writing job descriptions organizational effectiveness planning and implementation team building expertise and coaching
- Initiates and implements full cycle recruitment activities in collaboration with leadership
- Maintain HRIS system trackers and other reports as needed
- Participate in the implementation of the Organizational and HR operating plans goals and objectives
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and adherence to all applicable legislation standards and guidelines
- Develop and facilitate training to leadership and employees
EDUCATION
- Undergraduate degree in human resources or in a relevant discipline combined with a post graduate certificate in human resources management from a recognized post-secondary institution
- CPHR Designation with current membership in good standing or equivalent is preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 7 years experience in a unionized environment performing a broad range of Human Resources functions including employee relations
- Experience within non-profit sector specifically in a youth serving organization
- Experience in deploying and administering HR programs policies practices and processes
- Experience in influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders and leaders across
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- In-depth knowledge of human resources operations and best practices; knowledge of employment standards human rights legislation and collective agreements
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining a keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing with employees and external partners
- Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information
- Functions effectively as a team member demonstrating emotional intelligence and objectivity when dealing with challenging/changing work environments
- Process facilitation and project management skills and experience
SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary based on experience. The Link offer group insurance and pension plans.
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week - Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch (please note this position is located on-site only).
