Description

To enable students with disabilities to participate in and benefit from their educational programs by providing appropriate therapy services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT).



Responsibilities



EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Under the supervision of a supervising OT:
  • Participates in screenings and collection of informal data.
  • Utilizes evidenced-based and best practices in service delivery.
  • Provides training and education for staff and parents/guardians.
  • Maintains timely and accurate services documentation tracking student progress and service delivery in alignment with IEPs; ensures documentation for third party billing is complete.
  • Participates in consultations with parents teachers and staff or in other meetings as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education Training and Experience:

  • Minimum requirement of an associate degree in Occupational Therapy.

Experience working with children in a school setting preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • American Occupation Therapy Association (AOTA) certification required.
  • Maryland Occupational Therapy Assistant License (OTA/L) required.



Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the educational system and the role of occupational therapy for student access.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide services to students with identified needs using a variety of service delivery models as needed.
  • Ability to use computers and related equipment including assistive technology.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.



PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The work of this class entails travel to schools offices and job sites throughout the Baltimore area and frequent physical efforts in the performance of student job duties.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Eligible for membership in the Maryland State Retirement System.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools regular and temporary are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to signing the contract.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.

  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
