Position/Title: Upper School Biology/Chemistry Teacher


Appointment: School year 2026


Reports To: Director of the Upper School

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and talented long-term substitute who can teach two sections of AP AB Calculus to Upper School students. The ideal teacher will create a rich inquiry-based learning environment while preparing and implementing lesson plans and structures based on those provided by the teacher of record.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and implementation of daily lessons
  • Design implementation and timely evaluation of appropriate authentic formative and summative assessment
  • Timely and proactive communication with student parents advisor about student progress
  • Regular check-ins with the Upper School Director to ensure understanding of and commitment to community norms


Requirements

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science or graduate degree in Mathematics or related field. Prior experience teaching in an Upper School setting is an asset. Candidates for Laurel teaching positions should be enthusiastic about pedagogy particularly inquiry-based approaches and differentiated implementation that is best suited to a variety of learners. Successful candidates will possess a positive attitude excellent written and verbal skills strong organizational skills and proven success within a work setting that requires collaboration cooperation and collegiality. The candidate must possess or acquire and maintain a State of Ohio issued teaching certificate. The school welcomes the opportunity to continue to find ways to diversify our faculty.


Salary

$185/day
