Description of Work
The primary purpose of the position is to provide high level administrative and coordinating functions for the Museums of the Cape Fear and support the Regional Museum Site Manager. The Business Officer serves on the management team for the facility reviews operational structures/processes resolves problems oversees facilities and programming and reviews and enforces required policies. Position reviews museum priorities thereby aligning assigning and assisting with daily operations.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $50633 - $69620 Annually

Demonstrated experience in facility oversight.
Demonstrated experience of working in a museum or historic setting.
Demonstrated experience with educational programs and/or its oversight.
Demonstrated experience in a leadership position.
Demonstrated experience in understanding reviewing and communicating policies and procedures.
Position/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 force frequently with or without accommodation.
Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with some weekends as required.

Bachelors degree in accounting business finance or other discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution
and
two years of progressive related experience one year of which should be in a supervisory role
or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Museum of the Cape Fear is a regional museum under the Division of State History Museums. The museum serves a portion of the state. Its mission is to collect preserve and interpret cultural history of southern North Carolina and the state for the education and enjoyment of the present and future generations. Through educational program and exhibits the museum raises awareness of the past and its influence on the present.

The North Carolina Museum of History Division promotes the understanding of the history and material culture of North Carolina for the educational benefit of North Carolinians. Through collections and historical Interpretation its museums encourage citizens and visitors to explore and understand the past; to reflect on their lives and their place in history; and to preserve state regional and local history for future generations.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
