The Patel Conservatory located at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts is currently starting the hiring process for our Summer Camp Assistants. The Camp Assistant is primarily responsible for teaching daily Pre- or Post-Camp activities and providing administrative support to camp leadership.
This is a fantastic part time Summer opportunity to assist in our amazing 9-week Summer Camp Program at the Patel Conservatory! The award-winning nationally recognized and fully accredited Patel Conservatory offers a multitude of performing arts classes in dance theater and music for students of all ages and experience levels. Students of all ages attend weekly camps to learn and grow in all areas of the performing arts. Our Camp Assistants play an integral role in supervising these students and providing activities before and after camps and provide administrative support to our camp leadership staff.

Essential Functions:
Pre-Camp or Post-Camp Instructor
- Prepares daily student activities.
- Game Planning
- Entertainment
- Crafts
- Supervises pre- or post-camp students and addresses student behavior and health issues as needed.
- Tracks and submits daily attendance to admissions office.
- Works with security staff to ensure a smooth drop-off/pick-up process for students.
Camp Administration
- Supports camp leadership and Admissions staff with administrative tasks as needed.
- Supervises student lunch breaks and assists with cleaning up.
- Assists with camper drop-off/pick-up procedures.
- Supports camp leadership with student late arrivals/early dismissals addressing behavior and health issues including administering first aid as needed.
- Supports faculty and staff with inputting attendance as needed.
- Supports camp leadership with pulling attendance data collecting student assessments and completing camp showcase statistics forms.
- Reviews and submits Incident Reports as needed.
- Attends camp planning meetings as needed.
- Supports all faculty and staff to ensure the smooth operation of summer camps.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities):
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include early mornings or evenings as required.
- Approximate schedule will be 5 hours each weekday morning or afternoon for approximately 9 weeks during summer camps. Work schedules will be confirmed prior to position acceptance.
- Must have a reliable and consistent transportation plan to ensure attendance at work on time as scheduled each day.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with parents students and staff.
- Demonstrates the ability to quickly learn assigned responsibilities and execute tasks independently with minimal supervision or direction.
- Demonstrates adaptability with the ability to acquire new knowledge and independently complete assigned responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintains sustained attention and focus on student engagement and safety for extended periods effectively prioritizing program responsibilities over personal distractions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to create an excellent customer care experience for parents students and staff. Resolves customer inquiries and concerns in a positive tactful and helpful manner.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to effectively manage changing priorities while still meeting deadlines.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with regards to sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Ability to remain poised and effective in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Ability to complete basic math computations.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
- Must be able to successfully complete a Level 2 background check. *
Education and Work Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of experience
- High school diploma.
- Experience with student supervision student affairs customer service or education preferred.
- Spanish as a second language is helpful.

- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to remain stationary traverse the campus communicate with students and staff. The employee is occasionally required to operate a computer and other office equipment converse with others using a telephone Position self to move boxes weighing up to 40lbs for short distances ascend/descend stairs and position self to move in confined spaces. The employee is occasionally required to operate equipment utilized during camp.
