Description of role:

TWIs Metallurgy Corrosion and Surface Engineering Section supports a global client base via its expertise in materials performance and characterisation/testing microstructure property relationships and welding metallurgy combined with broad knowledge of issues affecting materials in industrial service. Projects and technical activities range from rapid turn-round failure investigations to long-term R&D programmes for individual companies consortia of companies and Governmental programmes in Energy Oil & Gas Power Generation Heavy Engineering and Transport sectors.

The Metallurgy Team Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations (quality financial performance business development) in the metallurgy theme of the section and assists in longer-term strategic planning development and delivery of a portfolio of single client and collaborative projects through a team of Engineers. This includes delivering high client satisfaction staff development and technology development whilst working with the leadership team to achieve orders income costs and contribution targets.

We seek to recruit a motivated individual to join the team in the role of Team Manager with strong knowledge of metallurgy project management expertise and leadership skills.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Engineers fostering a high-performance culture aligned with TWIs values.
  • Oversee work allocation and successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of technical projects.
  • Provide coaching mentoring and structured development plans to support the growth of team members.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Business Development technical sections MPL and Commercial to ensure project sales and delivery.
  • Manage complex engineering projects for TWI Industrial Members delivering to standard and within budget.
  • Work alongside the Section Manager to develop strategic plans for the future of the technology theme.
  • Support TWI Industrial Members to develop relationships and business opportunities for the future.

Working hours:
