About the role:

We are seeking to fill the Port Controller role within the Port Control team based in Perth. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team where you will play a key role in enhancing business performance by overseeing and coordinating site operations. Your responsibilities will include executing the daily plan proactively identifying bottlenecks and faults analysing root causes and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to implement solutions.

Within this role you will report to the Port Control Supervisor and be responsible for the following:

  • Manage Safe Productive operation of the Rio Coastal Operations in accordance with RTIO Operating Rules and Procedures ensuring production targets are safely met.

  • Attend Shift Start meetings on time and actively participate; respectfully contribute to all discussions and always raise safety and production issues.

  • Use of scheduling tools e.g. FSP/HOS to ensure Safe Production plan is verified and optimized

  • Investigate site and scheduling plan for opportunities to increase production safely

  • Ensuring our standards are always professional and upheld when collaborating with stakeholders

  • Ensure prompt and detailed data integrity when entering AMPLA delays.

  • Handover - Provide clear written (shift log) and verbal accounts of information to set up the oncoming controller for a safe and productive shift

  • Drive continuous improvement with site-based stakeholders utilising our internal processes.

  • A proactive analytical mind with strong problem-solving skills diagnosing faults effectively prioritising issues and making timely decisions.

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and able to work closely in a team whilst treating everyone with respect and providing support.

  • Coping with and remaining calm under pressure courage to seek assistance when required

  • Conduct yourself in line with Rio Tinto values The Way We Work and Rio Tinto policies.

It would be desirable to have:

  • Demonstrated competence with WonderWare control systems

  • Demonstrated experience in Port Operations.

Where youll be working

Our integrated iron ore network is supported by our Operations Centre (OC) in Perth a state-of-the-art facility that enables all the autonomous trucks trains and drills at our mines ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location. The Operations Centre incorporates visualisation and collaboration tools to provide real-time information across our demand chain and allows us to optimise our mining maintenance and logistic activities across the Pilbara in a way never before possible. Located near the Perth domestic airport the OC operates 24 hours a day 365 days a year to coordinate our integrated network of mines rail and ports from 1500km away.
