About the Role

The Work Safety and Wellbeing Specialist is an exciting newly developed role that will form part of the Corporate Services Team reporting directly to the Head of People and Culture. The successful candidate will be a trusted expert who delivers high-calibre practical and data-led strategies to support Ruahs commitment to safety and wellbeing. This responsibility of the candidate will be to provide advice and influence leaders to build their capability in managing Work Health and Safety and Injury Management effectively. By collaborating with leaders and employees across the organisation the Specialist will implement systems that drive a positive safety culture proactively manage risk and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.

This role will have three primary components:

  • WHS Leadership;
  • Injury Management and Return to Work; and
  • Collaboration and Engagement.

This is a full-time permanent position working 38 hours per week between Monday to Friday. The position is based at our Northbridge office with visits to other sites in the Perth Metropolitan area as required.

What were looking for

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Possession of tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related field at a Diploma or Bachelor level;
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role focusing on incident investigations risk assessments injury management and workers compensation case management;
  • Strong working knowledge of current Western Australian WHS legislation codes of practice and regulatory obligations and the ability to interpret and adapt into the workplace;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office and digital tools for reporting tracking and analysis;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diversity and social inclusion- including gender sexuality disability cultural age and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal culture; and
  • Experience in positively leading coaching and mentoring leaders.

Experience working in the not-for-profit community services sector is not essential but is desirable.
