Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION Teach a variety of college-level lecture courses within the Department of Public Health and Integrative Wellness under the Kinesiology Division and classes in the related Certificate programs to a diverse student population. Intercollegiate athletics courses will not be included in this assignment Prepare course materials and use appropriate instructional methodologies which may include but are not limited to delivering lectures leading discussions and conducting laboratory demonstrations. Serve as either the curriculum representative and/or Academic Senator for the Kinesiology & Athletics division. Contribute to the development and revision of course content and instructional materials textbook/equipment selection instructional equipment oversight and assessment strategies. Participate in the development and implementation of articulation agreements and actively participate and contribute in the Guided Pathways Dual Enrollment and Career Technical Education framework at Cypress College to enhance student success. Assist with the development of scholarly and professional activities that promote economic development and partnerships with the local professional community. Work with students and employers in occupational settings on-the-job training practicums internships and similar work-related situations as needed. Maintain professional skills and subject expertise through continual study and research in discipline and through involvement in professional organizations. Participate in curriculum development and serve on department division college and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participate in appropriate professional development activities. Participate in co-curricular activities including planning implementing and teaching in special programs designed to support student success. Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle. Maintain formal office and campus hours; participate in department and division meetings. Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g. computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient organized and timely manner. Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with district college and division policies in the performance of duties. Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions. Develop culturally relevant course content culturally responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved. The ideal candidate should have experience in this area with African American Latinx Native Americans Pacific Islanders and other disproportionately impacted students. Work cooperatively with staff and students. Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.

Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Minimum two years of experience teaching public health to college students preferably at a community college. Experience in grant writing and grant management. Masters in Physical Education Kinesiology or Exercise Science. Demonstrated knowledge and interest in working with students who are underrepresented in higher academia with the goal of reducing equity gaps. Certification from any of the following nationally recognized organizations including: Society for Public Health Education: CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) Yoga Alliance: Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher 500 hours (E- RYT 500) International Association of Yoga Therapists: Certified Yoga Therapist (C- IAYT ) National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching: Certified Health and Wellness Coach ( NBHWC )
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Masters in health science health education biology nursing physical education kinesiology exercise science dietetics nutrition or public health OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in any biological science OR Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area. OR The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education training employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.
