Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Human Factors Computer Scientist at The NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas. The primary function of this position is to support the Anthropometry and Biomechanics Facility (ABF) at NASAs Johnson Space Center. The ABF performs anthropometric biomechanical ergonomic and human factors evaluations of flight equipment and procedures including evaluation of current and future space suit designs. The ABF utilizes motion analysis systems force sensing devices anthropometric measuring devices and computer modeling/analysis. This position will work with scientists and engineers in the ABF to complete operational evaluations and analyses. Specifically this position will include developing debugging and running pipelines to process and/or analyze human performance and other population data.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for compliance with Safety Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Companys safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management
  • Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan policies and procedures
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the company
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training
  • Collaborate with ABF Technical Leads to plan and execute operational evaluations focused on anthropometry human factors ergonomics biomechanics and injury risk
  • Support the development and maintenance of study documentation including IRB protocols test plans and readiness review materials in compliance with NASA policies
  • Set up calibrate and monitor equipment for human subject testing and hardware evaluations
  • Collect and manage data from human subject tests
  • Analyze test data using appropriate statistical methods and contribute to the interpretation of results.
  • Prepare technical reports manuscripts and presentations and present findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences as required
  • Create graphical user interfaces (GUIs) as well as 2D and 3D visualizations for human performance evaluations
  • Archive data and ensure proper documentation in accordance with NASA requirements
  • Provide regular inputs for weekly and monthly status reports
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to team and customer objectives
  • Serve as a test subject for protocol and hardware evaluations on a volunteer basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field with applicable work experience
  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with NASA standards and requirements or similar experience with a broad set of human factors ergonomics and anthropometry requirements
  • Experience conducting or supporting human health and performance research
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning methods including body shape morphing
  • Highly motivated with developed organizational skills and ability to support multiple projects
  • Understanding of human performance capabilities and human-system interactions
  • Knowledge of anthropometry methodologies and analyses approaches
  • Knowledge of linear algebra robotics kinematic chain conventions and rigid body dynamics
  • Experience in 3D analytical assessment of geometry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both formal and informal
  • Strong demonstrated programming skills including MATLAB Python
  • Standard PC and Microsoft Office skills for preparation of documents and presentations
DESIRED SKILLS/TRAINING:
  • Knowledge of occupational musculoskeletal disorders/injuries
  • Experience with motion capture systems and analysis of kinematic data
  • Experience with bioinstrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Experience with CAD and human modeling tools: SolidWorks ProE Blender Polyworks
  • Experience with React Node JS and Flask frameworks
WORK LOCATION
This position is located onsite at the Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas
