As an Automation Engineer III specializing in Building Automation Systems (BAS) you will lead the design implementation and commissioning of integrated control systems for complex building environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver smart energy-efficient and scalable automation solutions for life sciences biotech and advanced manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
- Develop control system architecture and detailed design documents for BAS including HVAC lighting energy management and environmental monitoring systems.
- Specify and configure DDC controllers instrumentation and network infrastructure.
- Create control logic framework sequences of operation and integration strategies for third-party systems (e.g. fire alarm security BMS).
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to provide formal recommendations of controls solutions and strategies.
Project Execution
- Develop detailed specifications and design documentation for BAS programming configuration and commissioning activities
- Perform site acceptance testing troubleshooting and validation to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Interface with clients to gather requirements present technical solutions and provide training and support.
- Collaboration with architects mechanical electrical and plumbing engineers to provide a seamless control strategy.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal standards and best practices.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation including specifications control narratives wiring diagrams and commissioning reports.
- Ensure systems comply with relevant codes standards (ASHRAE NFPA ISA IBC OSHA) and sustainability goals (LEED WELL).
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 58 years of experience in BAS design and implementation preferably in regulated industries (e.g. pharma biotech).
Additional Qualifications
- Proficiency in BAS platforms (e.g. Siemens Desigo Tridium Niagara Honeywell EBI Johnson Controls Metasys).
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems control theory and network protocols (BACnet Modbus LonWorks).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam.
- Experience with programming DDC controllers and configuring HMI/graphics interfaces.
