• Answers questions and provides teaching asappropriate toscope and licensure or as directed by provider to patients and family membersregardinghealth maintenance and medical illnesses
• Documentsappropriate informationin the patients electronic chart.Complete patient forms andrequestsmedical records/correspondence to be scanned into the electronic health record.
• Schedule referrals for patients withspecialistoroutpatientas requested by the provider.Completeappropriate formsor requisitions needed for referrals or lab testing
• Assistprovider with patient examinationproceduresand emergencies
• Provide and document advice for home care of illness/condition conducting follow up phone callsregardingpatientshealth and progress as directed by provider.
• Perform diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
• Prepare andassistprovider with patient examination specimen collection minor surgicalproceduresand treatment of the patients including administration of medication under direct supervision of the provider asappropriate toscope and licensure
• Demonstrate knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concernsimmediately
• Thoroughly understand testing (lab and procedures) values and relationship to patient status with accountability to take next steps as directed and asappropriate toscope and licensure.
• Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceedcustomer expectations.
• Understand inpatient and outpatient specialty procedures.Responsible for compliance with precertification requirements.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
• Applicant must sit for APON chemotherapy course and PALS course within first six months of hire.

Experience:

• At least one year of nursing experience.

Other:

• Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
