JOB SUMMARY
We are hiring an Engineer I that will be based at our utility client in the Salt Lake City area and it will require 5 days in the office. The Engineer I is responsible for working with the Project Managers and Project teams managing natural gas infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction and closeout. They will assist different teams of professionals in the execution of this work depending on the stage of the projects. They may work closely and interactively with clients including reporting progress and delivering forecasts for cost and schedule. The Engineer I works with Senior Engineers the Drafting Team and the client to ensure that work is being done correctly and in accordance with the clients requirements. They may also answer questions and solve problems specific to design. As an entry level practitioner they will rely on input from more senior engineers while performing their duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop specifications and drawings for assigned projects.
Perform engineering calculations.
Help develop project objectives cost estimates and responsibilities by reviewing client requirements project proposals and plans and conferring with the Program Director Project Manager and client representatives.
Prepare engineering reports memoranda and specifications.
Assist in determining project specifications by studying product design customer requirements and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
Work with Project Manager and other team members in developing a comprehensive workflow process tasks and project assignments.
Control project plan by reviewing design specifications and status reports. Plan and schedule changes; recommending actions to ensure project stays on-time and on-budget while meeting client specifications.
Ensure project compliance with appropriate government regulations safety rules and company and client policies.
Participate in meetings to discuss/resolve technical issues with internal staff and clients.
Assist senior engineers and Project Manager with project planning scheduling and resource estimates.
Requires ongoing coordination communication and/or team problem solving between departments or functional areas as well as clients; for work production or service quality.
This position requires regular contact with employees in multiple internal departments and regular contact with client employees.
Perform field engineering duties including but not limited to construction observation site reconnaissance and project pre-bid site visits.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
An ABET accredited Bachelors Degree in engineering required. (Civil or Mechanical discipline preferred).
Has passed the fundamentals of engineering (FE) exam preferred.
This position is entry level 1 year of prior engineering experience is preferred but not required.
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
SALARY: 75-83K DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources including internal resources and clients.
Ability to read and interpret communication styles of team members and clients who come from both technical and non-technical disciplines.
A drive to succeed in a team environment.
The ability to provide superior service.
Knowledge of natural gas regulations codes and standards is desired.
Knowledge of fluid mechanics pipeline engineering and/or utility engineering is desired.
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents will regularly experience periods of prolonged sitting standing walking travel/driving and lift objects up to 25 lbs.
Incumbents will occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs.
This position requires the incumbent to operate office equipment such as computers telephones fax machines and copiers.
Periodic travel for field engineering assignments for up to two weeks at a time may be required.
The role will require 5 days in office at our client location most weeks
