Job Summary

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Chemist to join our team in Dundonald this role you will be responsible for carrying out the analysis of fuels and related substances ensuring all quality procedures within the solid fuels laboratory are being adhered to.

You will also carry out analytical methods and standard operating practices without supervision to a high degree of precision and accuracy. As a senior chemist you will be expected to ensure that an effective and high quality analytical service is provided and reporting deadlines are met. Additionally you will be involved in carrying out method development within coal biomass and chemistry laboratories using a number of analytical instrument techniques.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Required Competencies

Good knowledge and experience working with techniques such as GCMS ICP-MS and IC.
Able to critically review technical information and spot root causes and suggest solutions
High attention to detail
Able to focus on meeting given deadlines
Highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently and take the initiative
Able to communicate effectively in a range of different formats and at all levels in the organisation
Ability to demonstrate literacy and numeracy
Ability to effectively lead and drive a team
IT Skills - Microsoft and Google Applications
Strong quality focus with a strive for excellence

Required Work Experience

Minimum 3 years experience in method validation and development
Minimum 5 years experience within a laboratory analytical setting
Experience in managing people

Required Qualifications

HNC and HND in science related subjects or equivalent
Science Degree is desirable.
