Job Summary
Teaching staff support the planning and implementation of educational programs for children ranging from infants through school age depending on program needs. This role involves facilitating age-appropriate activities promoting childrens social and emotional development and ensuring consistent supervision in a safe healthy and nurturing environment.
Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with learning foundations and childrens interests
Create maintain and enhance intentional enriched and supportive learning environments
Build authentic culturally responsive relationships with children families and team members
Ensure childrens health and safety through proper supervision positive interactions and adherence to safety standards
Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality programs and foster creative supportive workplaces
Demonstrate positive and respectful interactions with children and youth
Maintain safe emotional and physical environments
Ensure punctuality and regular attendance
Participate actively in indoor and outdoor programming
Be physically and mentally capable of meeting the needs of children up to 13 years of age
Follow safety guidelines report health or safety concerns and remain calm during emergencies or first-aid situations
Work in both indoor and outdoor settings including weather conditions that are safe for children
Conduct visual inspections to identify hazards and implement preventative safety measures
Tolerate occasional loud noise during activities
Perform frequent bending lifting twisting reaching pushing and pulling
Lift and carry materials up to 15 lbs. individually or with assistance
Navigate playground equipment uneven terrain and varied surfaces
Adapt to childrens physical levels by sitting kneeling or squatting during activities
Supervise off-site activities and field trips as required
Education
Education and permit requirements may vary by program type and age group
One of the following is required:
24 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) in Early Childhood Education Child Development or a related field with passing grades plus required general education units or
Associates degree or higher in ECE Child Development or a related field from an accredited institution or
Valid Teacher Permit or higher issued by the appropriate credentialing authority
Experience & Skills
Two years of experience in a group care or teaching environment with a consistent age group preferred
One year of experience supervising adults or equivalent supervision coursework preferred
Strong classroom management problem-solving conflict resolution and communication skills
Effective organization time management and curriculum documentation abilities
Ability to work collaboratively within a professional team environment
Adult and infant/child CPR & First Aid certification preferred
Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred based on program needs
