    POSITION DETAILS: This position is for a 52 week Lead Mechanic-Heating & A/C temperature Service Technician. 5 days per week at 8 hours per day. The current scheduled work times are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
    SALARY: $25.85per hour (entry level) additional hourly stipend based on certification

    This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan. Enrolling in the 403(b) plan allows employees to save for their retirement by making a pre-tax salary deferral contributions to the Plan.

    SUMMARY:
    This position is responsible for the installation maintenance monitoring and servicing of temperature control systems that support heating and air conditioning operations across EVSC facilities. The role ensures building comfort system reliability and energy efficiency by proactively troubleshooting issues and coordinating service needs.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
    • Install service and maintain temperature control equipment associated with heating and air conditioning systems throughout EVSC facilities.
    • Schedule and coordinate heating and air conditioning systems for service for EVSC buildings to ensure optimal system performance and minimal disruption to school operations.
    • Monitor heating and air conditioning system status diagnose system issues and support troubleshooting and repair efforts.
    • Utilize aerial lifts and scaffolds as needed for various projects.
    • Review and complete electronic work orders in the work order system providing detailed accurate information upon completion.
    • Frequently monitor email communication and respond accordingly in a timely manner.
    • Complete monthly safety training.
    • Maintain regular attendance.

    JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Demonstrated knowledge skill and ability to efficiently inspect calibrate maintain and service temperature control equipment for heating and air systems.
    • Working knowledge of boiler operations pipe fitting steam trap repairs pneumatic controls and related mechanical systems used in institutional or commercial facilities.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow maintenance employees students staff and the community.
    • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
    • Ability to perform basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Google systems.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
    High school Diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in the installation maintenance and servicing of temperature control systems for heating and air conditioning preferably in commercial institutional or educational facilities.

    CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:
    Journeyman HVAC license Refrigerant Recovery License.
    Valid drivers license with good driving record.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before small groups of employees of an organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as pricing discounts proportions percentages area circumference and volume.
    • Ability to read tape measure and calculate in feet inches and fractions.
    • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exist.
