Tekberry is seeking a highly experienced Controls Engineer IV to support our clients fiber optic cable manufacturing operations. This role will serve as a senior controls engineering resource responsible for designing programming integrating and supporting advanced automation and machine control systems within a production plant environment.

Responsibilities
Controls Engineering & Automation
Design develop and modify Allen Bradley PLC programs (ControlLogix v20 or higher) for fiber optic cable production equipment.
Implement new control system projects supporting process improvement capital expansion and equipment obsolescence mitigation.
Generate debug and modify PLC code using ladder logic structured text and function block diagrams.
Program and support HMI/SCADA systems in a manufacturing plant environment including higher-level communication protocols.
Develop robust cost-effective automation and machine control solutions aligned with production and safety requirements.
Electrical Design & Documentation
Generate modify and interpret electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical 2023.
Design control panel layouts schematics and component documentation in accordance with Corning standards.
Prepare initial CAD layouts for complete electrical control systems and sub-systems.
Review electrical drawing packages for technical accuracy and standards compliance.
Project Execution & Integration
Manage the controls engineering scope for automation-related projects.
Interface with external system integrators to deliver fully integrated process equipment systems.
Participate in all phases of projects including design fabrication off-line integration and testing installation startup and production support.
Independently follow and oversee equipment construction at vendor facilities.
Support technology transfer and training of plant personnel following system deployment.
Troubleshooting & Operations Support
Troubleshoot complex process and equipment issues using sound engineering principles.
Work closely with maintenance technicians and engineers to resolve equipment and controls issues.
Support continuous improvement initiatives through control system optimization.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all equipment and processes meet applicable safety requirements and codes (NEC NFPA etc.).
Enforce Lock-Out/Tag-Out and other required safety procedures at all times.
Proactively identify and correct potential safety or environmental risks.
Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor and train junior controls engineers.
Execute project assignments independently while collaborating effectively in a team-based environment.
Drive projects to completion with minimal supervision and strong accountability.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) Computer Science (BSCS) Mechanical Engineering (BSME) Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) or equivalent engineering discipline with relevant experience.
Experience
4 years of manufacturing experience working with PLCs HMIs and VFDs controlling process and automation equipment.
Technical Skills
Advanced experience programming Allen Bradley ControlLogix systems (v20).
Strong proficiency in ladder logic structured text and function block programming.
Experience with HMI/SCADA systems in plant environments.
Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical 2023 for electrical controls system design.
Strong understanding of electrical design practices machine and motion control systems electro-mechanical systems VFDs servos and industrial communication protocols.
Demonstrated troubleshooting capability for complex manufacturing processes and automation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with extrusion and cable winding processes.
Knowledge of legacy control systems networks and software.
Experience with OSI PI historian systems.
iFix 5.9 or higher experience.
Beckhoff PLC experience.
