About the area

The Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre (IOMRC) is a collaboration that brings together four of Australias leading research organisations working in and around the Indian Ocean:

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (Fisheries) Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS)

Oceans & Atmosphere (CSIRO)

UWA Oceans Institute

The collaboration includes the development of multi-disciplinary IOMRC collaborative research initiatives that will significantly advance Australias marine science capacity capability and profile.

About the opportunity

  • Provide operational and technical support to facilitate the safe and efficient delivery of research activities within IOMRC shared facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Operations Coordinator in a multi-agency environment standardise practices maintain technical readiness and support the effective use of laboratory aquaculture and technical spaces.
  • Contribute to compliance with safety and operational standards and assist in the coordination of daily facility activities.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a scientific environmental or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting laboratory aquaculture or marine research operations in regulated multi-user environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marine park access protocols water discharge requirements environmental monitoring obligations and approvals related to marine research activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with the operation troubleshooting and routine maintenance of scientific equipment aquaculture life-support systems and research instrumentation.
  • Sound knowledge of safety legislation environmental regulations biosecurity protocols and Dangerous Goods frameworks.
