The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work
This Assistant Plant Manager position is located at the Mt. View Correctional Institution Sewing Plant in Spruce Pine NC. This position reports directly to the Correction Enterprise Manager II and supervises 3 Correction Enterprise Supervisors as well as 65 to 85 offenders and all aspects of safety quality production and inventory. Mt. View Sewing is a production-based operation and must therefore meet production schedules. Mt. View Sewing is located inside the Mt. View Correctional facility so communication with facility staff is required.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $45926 - $80369

Correction Enterprises is a self-sustaining division of the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction that operates more than 30 prison-based businesses. The program provides practical job training and skill development for incarcerated individuals preparing them for reentry and employment. Minimum Education and Experience

Associate degree in Applied Science in industry related field or and a minimum of two years of experience in related line of production/service and one year of management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
