The Department of Justice Information Technology Division is responsible for the design development and deployment of new business applications and continuous support of existing applications for the Department of Justice. The Division is responsible for supporting all networking associated with the DOJ computers for assessing needs for required hardware and system products needed to support the infrastructure and for operating a Customer Support Center (CSC). The infrastructure is a mission critical environment supporting the Department and criminal justice users. The Division is constantly engaged in research and planning to position its environment to be consistent with North Carolinas statewide technical architecture as well as mandates from the General Assembly.

The purpose of this position is to provide overall server support functions including but not limited to maintenance and care of VMWare and server infrastructure Data center operations data protection services and devices and maintaining a healthy Active Directory environment. Assist team members or other staff at ITD in resolving complex issues with servers that may be affecting applications. This position will contact and work with vendor support to resolve issues provide support for the Windows operating system and VMware vSphere platform and provide system administration support for the configuration and maintenance of M365 and Azure/AWS environments.

*This position work with our user base to solve server-related issues including permission and access issues. Provides support for DOJ users in restoring deleted or lost files. Utilize ITD backup system and software to effectively assist users in restoring files and/or databases to resolve issues.
*This position provides support for NCDOJ Security Operations Center tasks. This includes using MS Defender Suite of tools to remediate cyber threats to our M365 and on-premises environments.
*This position installs configures and maintains physical servers and equipment in the DIT Eastern and Western Data Centers.
*This position will serve as backup for other team members on the infrastructure team.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

  • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

  • VMware Certified Professional - VMware vSphere Foundation Administrator

  • Experience creating automation tools with PowerShell

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in systems software programming; or

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in systems software programming; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
