POSITION PURPOSE
The Curriculum Operations and Reporting Analyst (Analyst) provides operational leadership data oversight expert consultation and program management for the School of Medicines (SoM) CompetencyBased Medical Education (CBME) system. This position ensures the successful implementation monitoring and continuous improvement of CBME across the clinical curriculum. The role functions with a high degree of independence exercises professional judgment in designing and maintaining reporting systems manages complex data workflows and serves as a primary subjectmatter expert to faculty staff and leadership. The Analyst reports to the Assistant Director for Clinical Curriculum in the Curriculum Unit of Academic Rural and Regional Affairs and directly supports institutional compliance accreditation and strategic curriculum initiatives.
In addition this position will work in close collaboration with the Academic and Learning Technologies Data Services Team and the Assessment and Evaluation Team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in independent environments can translate complex data into actionable insights and is comfortable managing the full lifecycle of data - from collection to reporting and documentation. The ideal candidate for this role will also have demonstrated experience in complex administrative management and process improvement.
POSITION COMPLEXITIES
This position operates within a highly complex educational environment spanning multiple campuses and clinical sites across the Washington Wyoming Alaksa Montana and Idaho (WWAMI) region. The person hired for this position must independently interpret accreditation requirements curriculum policies and evolving CBME frameworks to develop new reporting methods and operational processes. The role requires navigating ambiguous or incomplete data making recommendations that directly affect student progression and program quality and supporting faculty committees responsible for highstakes advancement decisions. The Analyst must balance competing deadlines coordinate across units with different technology systems ensure data accuracy and troubleshoot issues with downstream impact on accreditation the MSPE process and student outcomes.
POSITION DIMENSIONS AND IMPACT TO THE UNIVERSITY
This position directly supports the Universitys mission in education research and community service by ensuring accurate timely and accessible data for curriculum oversight student assessment and accreditation reporting. The Analysts work impacts approximately 600 medical students across the fivestate WWAMI region more than 30 clerkship departments and multiple academic and administrative units. Reporting systems and operational processes maintained by this position inform Clinical Competency Committees the MSPE process student progression decisions program evaluation LCME accreditation and continuous quality improvement efforts. Although the position does not manage a budget its analyses influence resource planning faculty workload and strategic decisionmaking across the School of Medicine.
This role is critical to the longterm implementation and success of the School of Medicines CBME system and supports enterpriselevel educational transformation initiatives across the WWAMI region.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management (50%)
Serve as the primary subject matter expert and point of contact for all aspects of the School of Medicines CBME program. Partner with leadership to guide program rollout policy management and quality improvement.
Develop and manage communication resources for students faculty and staff to support CBME education and consistency.
Develop and support Clinical Competency Committees (CCC) to biannually review student progress in clinical clerkships. Oversee reporting data preparation and Committee recruitment and selection.
Provide functional direction to departmental coordinators faculty committee members and program staff regarding data submission reporting requirements and CBME processes.
Provide administrative support as needed including leave coverage for CBME operations staff.
Collect departmental data used for CCC meetings and advancement decisions.
Support program expansion including development and management of longitudinal student portfolios.
Data and Reporting (50%)
Provide business requirements to Data Services to develop reporting views dashboards and visualizations; act as primary stakeholder for new report development.
Maintain high standards of data accuracy and consistency. Review submitted materials for completeness and accuracy providing feedback recommended improvements and ensuring alignment with policy and reporting standards.
Document business processes and track changes to ensure transparency.
Communicate changes to business definitions to Data Services for userlevel reporting objects.
Work with MSPE staff and student progress committees to develop methods for documenting progression and readiness for advancement.
Respond to custom report requests and conduct complex data analyses using Excel SQL and other tools.
Serve as the primary contact for CBMErelated reporting tickets ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder communication.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in Data Science Social Sciences Information Systems Public Health Education or related field.
2 years of experience in data analysis reporting or data operations.
Additional Requirements.
Strong proficiency in Excel and SQL.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills especially in translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to analyze administrative workflows and implement process improvements within a higher education environment.
Experience supporting operations in large complex environments preferably academic institutions.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in an academic medical center or higher education setting.
Experience with survey data and educational or healthcare data.
Familiarity with CBME frameworks and academic program evaluation.
Familiarity with Qualtrics or similar survey distribution applications.
Experience with Power BI Tableau or similar tools .
Experience with ticketing systems (e.g. Jira ServiceNow).
Understanding of data privacy and compliance standards.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position works in a deadlinedriven environment with peak periods during Clinical Competency Committee cycles MSPE reporting windows and accreditation activities. Occasional availability outside normal business hours is required to resolve urgent data issues support committee meetings or respond to timesensitive leadership requests. Work includes coordination with faculty and staff across multiple time zones within the WWAMI region. The position is primarily officebased with hybrid work options per School of Medicine policy.
