The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties:The Junior Volunteer Coordinator (Intern) plays an important role in engaging high school volunteers with an interactive mental health program at Central Regional Hospital an acute psychiatric facility serving children adolescents and adults. This program involves working closely with departments throughout the hospital to build a program that will allow the volunteers to be engaged in therapeutic groups team building activities and patient parties. Interns will work closely with professional clinicians.
Major Task to be Performed:Mentor high school volunteers create a daily program schedule coordinate and plan team building activities organize patient parties organize & arrange therapeutic group schedules coordinate and recognize junior volunteers during an awards ceremony complete a media project reflective of this program to be used as a training tool/guide for future interns.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: The intern will develop an understanding of work within a large psychiatric facility. Intern will further develop leadership program development and professional skills. Intern and volunteers will have a better understanding of mental illness and therapeutic interactions. Patients will experience fun engaging activities provided by volunteers.
