PAYROLL DIRECTOR (Permanent)
Our client a rapidly growing technical solutions & equipment company with its headquarters in WNY is looking to hire a Payroll Director to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment enjoys leading a team and can manage complex payroll operations with ease.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day payroll operations for the organization
- Act as the subject matter expert for all payroll related inquiries issues improvements and implementations
- Provide guidance and mentorship to a payroll staff of 3 offering constructive feedback and training when necessary in order to develop each into a stronger payroll employee
- Manage all aspects of the weekly/bi-weekly multistate payroll process which includes union and nonunion members roughly 1300 employees throughout NY NJ MA NH CT PA & FL
- Review payroll prior to processing to ensure accuracy
- Lead payroll audits manage reporting and ensure accurate documentation
- Lead system enhancement projects and implementation developing internal controls and ensure appropriate training
- Maintain a thorough understanding of prevailing wage regulations wage/hour laws and payroll tax regulations on local state and federal levels to ensure compliance is maintained at all times
- Collaborate with Finance Operations and HR departments to ensure seamless payroll operations
- Possess the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume and deadline driven environment
- Work well independently as well as in a team environment
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full-time direct hire
- 100% in-office; hours between 7:30-5:00 with flexibility
- $90000 - $125000 annually depending on experience bonus potential 5-10%

- 5 years of payroll management experience minimum of 3 in a leadership role
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or similar
- Experience in multi-state payroll union payroll prevailing wages
- Strong computer skills; HRIS/Payroll systems specifically UKG
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Self-motivated
- Relocation not available
