Experienced Veterinary Assistant - ICU Overnight
Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in Portland Oregon. Our hospital team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in Emergency/Critical Care Radiology Internal Medicine Neurology Surgery Ophthalmology and are supported by dedicated technicians and support staff.

Who are we looking for right now
Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency & Referral is looking for experienced an overnight Experienced Veterinary Assistant for our ICU department. We are currently seeking coverage for three 12-hour overnight shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide oversight and treatments to multiple patients admitted for Hospitalization in the ICU
- Perform Diagnostic testing (radiographs bloodwork etc)
- Calculation/administration of IV Fluid Therapy with Fluid Additives and CRIs
- Placement and/or maintenance of advanced lines (drum central).
- Performance and monitoring of Oxygen Therapy including High-Flow Nasal Oxygen
- Performance and monitoring of PRBC and Plasma Transfusions
- Maintain gold-standard patient husbandry.
- Provide support and education to pet owners
- Maintain accurate medical records
Required Skills
- At least 3-5 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant in an ICU.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure
- Confident in life saving procedures such as CPR/BLS
- Strong/confident phlebotomy and venipuncture skills advanced catheter and sampling line placement skills preferred
- Assisting and monitoring of surgical and sedated procedures including monitoring and management of unstable patients.
