Department: Emergency Medicine
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care in community mental health settings
Conduct psychiatric evaluations diagnosis and treatment planning
Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications
Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams
Supervise residents and medical students in clinical rotations
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical documentation
Maintain current knowledge of psychiatric best practices and evidence-based treatments
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from accredited institution
Completion of psychiatry residency training
Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
Current medical license in Virginia or ability to obtain
Experience in community mental health or public psychiatry preferred
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from all backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
Fellowship training in relevant subspecialty
Previous academic medical center experience
Research experience and publications
Teaching and supervision experience
Bilingual capabilities
Experience with electronic health record systems
Leadership experience in clinical or administrative roles
