The North Carolina State Highway Patrols primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1600 troopers who cover nearly 80000 miles of North Carolina roadways more than any other state except addition to enforcing the states traffic laws state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. Description of Work

The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our team as an Administrative Specialist. The Administrative Specialist provides administrative support to the Field Operations-Investigative Services Unit section.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides administrative support to management and staff.

  • Facilitates and promotes key office operations.

  • Promotes compliance of rules and regulations governing vehicle dealers vehicle safety and emissions inspection stations and vehicle repair businesses.

Position/Physical Requirements:

  • Typical work schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm

Management Prefers:

  • Demonstrated experience understanding and awareness of program services polices and procedures.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and communicating information to internal/external partners through use of electronic and telephone resources

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data collection and storage to compile assimilate and organize printed and electronic information.

  • Proficiency experience using office equipment and other relevant technology/software.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

High school diploma

OR

General Educational Development (GED) diploma

AND

two years of related administrative experience;

OR

equivalent combination of education and experience.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrols Investigative Services Unit works to prevent auto theft enforces rules for automobile dealerships and inspection stations and protects citizens against different types of fraud.

Veterans and National Guard Preference

Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.

Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
