Location: Columbia SC 29210
Duration: 12 Months
Job Type: Temporary Assignment
Work Type: Remote with one required in-office day per month. Hybrid and fully in-office options are also available.
shift:4-day workweek 10-hour shifts (7AM 6PM or 8AM 7PM) with weekends off and one midweek day off (Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday).
Alternative: 5-day workweek 8-hour shifts with weekends off.

Job Description
  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Utility Billing Specialist to join our team.
  • This role involves frequent communication with utility vendors to negotiate fee waivers and resolve billing issues.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills time management and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Contact utility providers via phone email and fax to negotiate fee waivers and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure when dealing with challenging vendor interactions.
  • Accurately manage multiple accounts and tasks simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and participate in team chats for support and guidance.
  • Complete UBK (Utility Bill Knowledge) training and initial team onboarding.
Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Teams Outlook)
Training & Onboarding:
  • Initial UBK training (2 2.5 days) conducted in-office.
  • First day of team training also in-office for setup ease.
  • Two-week structured team training followed by a three-month training phase with ongoing support from team leads and peers.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must score 20 or above on the Wonderlic assessment.
  • Comfortable working independently with access to team support.
  • Willingness to attend one in-office day per month (date pre-selected).
Overview:
  • We are seeking detail-oriented candidates to join our Document Management team responsible for retrieving missing invoice data from utility providers across the U.S. and Canada.
  • This role involves extensive phone communication and requires a high level of accuracy efficiency and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Contact utility providers via phone (up to 8 hours/day) email or fax to obtain invoice data.
  • Negotiate fee waivers or due date extensions when necessary.
  • Evaluate and prioritize invoices based on key data points.
  • Accurately update internal systems with relevant information.
  • Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Meet or exceed performance targets and KPIs.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:

Required Skills:
  • Professional phone presence and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and respectfully.
  • Proficient in navigating websites and internal systems.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook proficiency is a plus).
Preferred Skills:
  • Typing speed of at least 45 WPM.
  • Advanced Outlook skills.
Experience:
  • Up to 2 years in a phone-based or data entry role with similar responsibilities.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/technical training or an associate degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus.
