Description of Work
The Systems Administrator I provides technical and analytical support for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Information Technology Division by administering Microsoft Windows Server systems virtual infrastructure and associated applications. This position ensures system reliability through performance monitoring security enhancements and troubleshooting while managing updates patches and configuration changes. The role supports cloud operations virtualization technologies and system integration projects to optimize scalability and efficiency. By implementing best practices and automation strategies the administrator maintains secure high-availability environments that meet organizational needs. The position operates within a collaborative IT team to deliver stable and resilient infrastructure services.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Documented experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments including configuration performance monitoring security patching and troubleshooting in enterprise-scale deployments.
Proven experience managing VMware virtualization technologies such as ESXi and vCenter including high-availability configurations capacity planning and proactive performance optimization.
Hands-on experience implementing and supporting public cloud services on platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure including provisioning configuration and monitoring for scalability and security.
Demonstrated experience utilizing enterprise help desk ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira to manage workflows resolve technical issues and document resolutions in alignment with IT service management standards.
Experience deploying and maintaining data backup solutions endpoint management systems and security monitoring tools to ensure system integrity and compliance with organizational policies.
Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Able to sit for extended periods of time
Able to stand for extended periods of time.
