Description of Work

As Communications Department Director youll lead a dedicated team of speech-language pathologists and a symbol board technician set departmental goals and ensure that residents receive exceptional speech language and communication services. Youll oversee clinical quality mentor clinicians in creating innovative person-centered programs and promote the effective use of assistive technology. Through hands-on leadership collaboration and creative problem-solving youll inspire your team to deliver services that enrich communication independence and overall quality of life for every resident.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $79770.00 - $131620.00

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs )/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Experience evaluating and treating speech language and hearing disorders in adults and/or children with intellectual and developmental disabilities including work with augmentative and alternative communication devices (AAC).

  • Experience supervising professional staff conducting evaluations and coordinating integrated treatment plans.

  • Demonstrated success collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (medical nursing OT PT special education).

  • Proven experience managing communication and swallowing disorders and understanding their impact on health and safety.

  • Uses Clinical outcomes quality metrics and feedback to guide program improvements.

Physical Requirements:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a neglible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/ or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for Light Work.

Work requires visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspections involving small defects small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

We provide comprehensive residential care to citizens from 37 counties in the western portion of the state.
