Salary Range: $50633.00 - $88607.00

This is an anticipated vacancy.

This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro NC Craven County.

Craven Correctional Institution is a medium custody male facility.

  • The Associate Warden for Programs manages the programs section which provides a large variety of programs services to the offender population including case management chaplaincy services treatment and rehabilitation programs volunteer programs and transitional services.
  • This position has dual supervision for the medical dental and psychological services.
  • The Associate Warden is responsible for establishing operating procedures and standards for all program services.
  • This position is directly involved with the hiring disciplining coaching and training of staff under his/her supervision.
  • This position is responsible for providing an offender labor force for the entire prison.
  • The Associate Warden participates as a member of the Executive Management Team for planning development and management of the facility.
  • This position may serve as acting Warden in the absence of the Warden.
  • This position will report to the directly to the Warden.

Management Preferences

  • Documented skills in supervision and management techniques
  • Documented knowledge of supportive counseling or treatment programs
  • Documented knowledge of services available to individuals from the community and other Public and private program

Note to Current State Employees:The Salary Grade for this position is NC14. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase/decrease MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in a human services or criminal justice field and four years of experience in correctional programs management work;

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications

Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
