The Perioperative Technician I
Maintains assigned work areas and equipment in a clean and organized condition to maintain required standards for handling sterilized and clean materials and to maintain a safe work environment.
Transfers inoperable equipment to the appropriate area for repair.
Applies aseptic techniques in daily work assignments.
Cleans selected equipment within the department. Maintains cleanliness of the equipment and mobilizes equipment to clean out halls and prepare for cases.
Assists with case preparation to facilitate daily schedule.
Assists in orientation of new employees to each work assignment areas and total department operations as needed and/or assigned. Also serves as a resource for other hospital departments.
Performs patient care activities to include preparing equipment and room for each assigned case organizing equipment for patient care transporting patients and assists with moving and positioning of patients and assisting physicians RNs and physician assistants in the delivery of patient care.
Transports patients supplies specimens etc. within the facility.
Performs general cleaning and decontamination of supply carts equipment and machines according to policies and procedures.
Plans and participates in special projects as assigned.
Assists in problem solving when needed in all related areas.
Stocks department supplies as directed.
Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development.
Communicates with other members of the health care team.
Work requires prolonged periods of walking bending standing lifting pushing and pulling.
Works in the presence of hazardous materials and highly technical equipment. Has continuous exposure to body fluids infectious diseases unpleasant odors and hazardous chemicals.
Maintains confidentially.
Reports abnormal and critical information to the CTL or Manager.
Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of accepting high-pressure assignments and all duties relative to the department.
Requires continuous attention to detail in all work assignments.
Willingness to accept new ideas and advance with the progression of ORS technology.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Nursing Assistant or Nursing education.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required within six months of employment.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal communication and team working skills required. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position. Must be able to fulfill fundamental components/essential elements of position.
