The Office of Administrative Hearings is responsible for conducting administrative hearings for most state agencies in the State of Oregon. Our mission is to serve the public by providing fair accessible and efficient contested case services in a neutral forum. WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The primary purpose of this position is to conduct timely fair and impartial contested case hearings primarily in the Driver and Motor Vehicle Services (DMV) subject matter area. This position works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment. This position presides over hearings ensuring that a complete record is developed and writes orders accurately deciding all factual and legal issues.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Required Minimum Qualifications

Three years experience conducting contested case hearings; OR graduation from an accredited law school with a LL.B. or J.D. degree.

Experience preparing and/or presenting cases before an administrative hearing panel or preparing written administrative decisions based on laws and regulations may be substituted for one year of the conducting contested case hearings experience.

This position requires travel to various locations within Oregon. Employee must have a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record OR employee must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation. Occasional overnight travel will be required.

IN-STATE HYBRID WORK INFORMATION:

This position will report to the Pendleton office with an opportunity for occasional hybrid work. Travel to other locations will be required as necessary. The OAH encourages applications from candidates from the Bend Redmond and Madras areas.
