Engineering at Oodle

OodlesProduct and Engineeringdepartmentis divided into twomainareas:

• The Pre-Fundingareaoversees the onboarding process for our customers. This involves the checks and procedures that are carried outpriorto the disbursement of a car loan. Itsfocusis on verifying customer detailsvalidatingnecessary documents and ensuring that the application adheres to all lending and compliance standards. Theobjectiveis to mitigate risk and confirm that the loan can be securely approved and funded.
• On the other handpost-fundingrepresentsOodlesmost essential system which manages the complete loan lifecycle encompassing payments and direct debits. Thisareapertains to the actions that take placeafterthe loan has been funded.

Supporting these functions are the Platform Engineering team the Data team and the information security team.

The primary technologiesused areSalesforceand a collection of microservicesdevelopedineitherJavaorPython all hosted on AWS.

The Role

The Engineering Managerfor Pre-Fundingwill be reporting directlyto the VP of lead & manage an experienced team of onshore software engineers to deliver a stream of awesome software releases that deliverreal businessvalue.

Whatyoullbe getting up to:

• Collaborate with product management to plan a realistic roadmap

• Lead mentor and develop your engineering teams;creating a collaborative and high-performing culture

• Support the professional growth of your team membersby having regular developmental conversations with them

• Own the architecture across the team and drive architectural alignment.

• Manage the delicate balance between the need to deliver business value with the need to continuously improve the architecture and reduce tech debt.

• In collaboration with theproduct managersownagile ceremonies and play a key role in the overall product governance processes.

• Ensure the team adheres to best practices in softwaredevelopmentincluding continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools to improve code quality and shift-left on testing securitymonitoringand deployment.

• Provide guidance on complex technical issues andassistwith problem-solving.

• Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes and tools

What strengthsyoullbring:

• An ability to combine technical skills with leadership

• Experience leading and line-managing a team of 5-10 software developers

• At least 5 years as ahands-onsoftware engineer; ideally with Java and/or Python.

• Experience with Salesforce is notessentialbut would certainly be helpful.

• Have experience ofcloud technologies (ideally AWS)
• A qualificationinComputerScience Engineering or a related field or equal industry experience.
