Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to assist the Athens-Clarke County Judge in providing advisory transactional and litigation related legal services to the Unified Government. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to assisting the judge in preparing for trial; reviewing briefs motions drafting orders and other legal documents; and performing additional tasks as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE:Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation responsible for the safety readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACCs safe driving policy.
Attorney I $78276-$93245 (DOQ)
Minimum Requirements:Juris Doctorate with at least two years of experience as a practicing attorney in two practice areas*required or any equivalent combination of education training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job. Must be a member of the Georgia State Bar and obtain a minimum of twelve (12) hours of accredited continuing education annually. Must possess a valid drivers license. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Minimum Requirements: Juris Doctorate with at least six years of experience as a practicing attorney is required with experience in four practice areas* or any equivalent combination of education training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job. Must be a member of the Georgia State Bar and obtain a minimum of twelve (12) hours of accredited continuing education annually. Must possess a valid drivers license. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Prepares for trial participates in motion practice prepares briefs memoranda orders and other legal documents.
Provides legal research and counsel to judge and conducts other legal services as requested.
Prepares documentation to assist in the orderly administration of cases.
Conducts legal research by reviewing case law legal opinions codes and statutes. Reads legal journals and case law to maintain knowledge of the legal profession.
Performs other related duties as required.
