POSITION SUMMARY
Hospice of South Texas (HOST) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Clinical Services to lead and oversee all clinical operations across our organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality compliant and patient-centered care while managing staffing productivity regulatory compliance and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Director of Clinical Services serves as a key member of the leadership team and plays a critical role in clinical quality staff development operational readiness and fiscal stewardship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
- Direct and coordinate all clinical departments across multiple sites to ensure continuity safety and quality of care in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) process and plan of care development.
- Provide oversight of clinician scheduling staffing coverage and acuity management.
- Conduct supervisory visits and provide hands-on clinical support when needed.
- Ensure consistent use of approved care delivery standards and workflows.
- Participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
Administrative & Operational Leadership
- Maintain and update agency policies and procedures.
- Serve as Alternate Administrator in the absence of the CEO.
- Participate in disaster planning and emergency operations.
- Represent HOST professionally in the community.
- Support organizational initiatives and leadership communications.
Staff Development & Performance Management
- Oversee orientation and onboarding of all patient care staff.
- Supervise and evaluate clinical managers and interdisciplinary staff.
- Ensure staff maintain licensure and mandatory education requirements.
- Complete performance evaluations in collaboration with HR.
- Coordinate staff education and in-service programs.
Fiscal Oversight
- Collaborate with CFO on budgeting and financial performance.
- Monitor staffing levels and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with reimbursement requirements.
Quality Safety & Compliance
- Oversee Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs.
- Maintain continuous regulatory readiness.
- Ensure OSHA CDC and infection control compliance.
- Participate in recruitment and hiring decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current RN License (Texas or Compact)
- Valid Drivers License and reliable transportation
- Minimum 5 years RN experience with leadership background
- Strong leadership communication and EMR proficiency
- Ability to work flexible hours and emergency rotation
Preferred
- Hospice or home health experience
- Regulatory survey experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Office-based with occasional patient visits
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to manage high-stress environments
- Exposure to varied clinical environments
