A large diverse and inclusive school in West London is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral and inclusion team. The school serves a wide community and has a strong commitment to supporting pupils who experience behavioural emotional and social challenges that impact their learning.
The school has invested heavily in pastoral care inclusion and mental health support recognising the importance of addressing underlying needs in order to improve behaviour and engagement. This role plays a vital part in ensuring vulnerable pupils receive consistent targeted support.
As a Behaviour Mentor you will support pupils who present with challenging behaviour emotional dysregulation anxiety or social difficulties. You will work across year groups providing one-to-one mentoring small group interventions and in-class support to help pupils remain engaged and regulated throughout the school day.
This role requires emotional resilience strong behaviour management skills and a genuine passion for working with children and young people who may have experienced trauma instability or unmet needs.
Key duties of the Behaviour Mentor role include:
Providing targeted one-to-one mentoring for pupils with behavioural and SEMH needs
Supporting pupils with ADHD autism trauma-related behaviours and emotional difficulties
Implementing and reviewing behaviour support plans
Supporting pupils during lessons to promote engagement and positive behaviour
De-escalating challenging situations using calm restorative approaches
Supporting pupils during transitions breaktimes and lunchtime
Working closely with teachers SEN staff and safeguarding leads
Recording and monitoring behaviour progress and emotional wellbeing
Supporting reintegration after exclusions or internal removals
Building positive trusting relationships with pupils and families
The school is seeking a Behaviour Mentor who:
Has experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour
Is calm consistent and confident managing difficult situations
Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
Understands safeguarding and child protection procedures
Is committed to inclusion and positive behaviour support
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
SEMH settings or alternative provision
Youth work or mentoring
Care or residential support
Psychology counselling or mental health support
