SALES & LOGISTICS SPECIALIST (Permanent)
Our client an established Transport & Logistics company in WNY is looking to hire a Sales & Logistics Specialist to join their team. This role is based out of Buffalo NY and oversees business across the country. This position is open due to an upcoming retirement in April.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a mix of sales quoting and logistics responsibilities to ensure seamless operations and drive business forward
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with clients juggling high volume of communication
- Develop complex specialized freighting solutions for clients under strict/tight deadlines
- Maintain a highly organized and effective work system to ensure decisions and made and issues are resolved in a calm effective and timely manner
- Prospect contact and engage potential new customers through various networking avenues to expand business
- Travel to various ports throughout the US to develop and strengthen client relationships
- Manage all inbound inquiries from potential customers providing detailed information and competitive quotes in an effort to convert inquiry into sales
- Revisit former customers to reestablish connections and gain business
- Manage high-volume quoting for various ports railways and inland locations
- Prepare large complex and accurate quotes/bid responses
- Collaborate with internal/external team members to ensure seamless operations and customer experiences are achieved
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full-time direct hire
- Standard 8:00am-5:00pm with flexibility
- Travel to port cities across the US about 25%
- Hybrid schedule: Mon Tues & Wed in-office; Thurs & Fri remote
- Occasional evening/weekend monitoring due to industry necessity
- $60000 - $65000 base annually depending on experience; uncapped commission potential (totaling $100000)
- Medical Dental Supplemental coverage 401k with match 3 weeks PTO
- 5 years Sales/Logistics Freight Forwarding Transportation Brokerage experience
- Strong understanding of shipping fundamentals: ports containers trans loads inland moves timing and rail ramps
- Excellent computer skills experience working within TMS system is preferable
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organization skills and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated driven energetic great personality and communication skills
- Relocation not available
