Cloud Security Engineer Azure
The Opportunity:
TheCloud Security Engineerwill play a critical role in securing the organizations public cloud environments with a primary focus onMicrosoft Azure. This is a hands-on engineering position that combinescloud security operationswithsecurity enablement. The engineer will partner with internal teams that leverage Azure but may lack deep cloud security expertise acting as aCloud Security Subject Matter Expert (SME)to provide guidance implement controls and help teams adopt secure configurations. This role requires strong knowledge ofAzure security services and concepts as well as foundational security principles to ensure the organizations cloud deployments are safe compliant and resilient.
What youll do
- Cloud Security Operations
- Implement and maintain security controls in Azure environments includingMicrosoft Defender for CloudAzure Security Center andAzure Sentinel.
- Work to define and deploy unified security controls across Azure subscriptions and resource groups ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Serve as a Cloud Security SME to educate and guide internal teams on how to respond to their own security alerts and incidents in Azure.
- Security Enablement & Guidance
- Partner with application and infrastructure teams toteach Azure security best practicesand help them adopt secure configurations.
- Support secure deployment patterns for:
- Identity and Access Management(Azure AD Conditional Access Privileged Identity Management)
- Network Security(NSGs Azure Firewall)
- Encryption and Key Management(Azure Key Vault)
- Assist teams in implementingAzure PolicyandBlueprintsfor compliance and governance.
- Architecture & Compliance Support
- Contribute to the development ofsecure design patternsfor Azure services.
- Ensure adherence to organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supportsecurity automationinitiatives using Azure-native tools and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform Bicep).
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay current on emerging Azure security features and threat trends.
- Recommend improvements to security posture based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
Who you are
- 24 years of experiencein information security or cloud engineering with at least12 years working with Azure.
- Strong understanding ofcore security principles(identity access control encryption network security).
- Hands-on experience withAzure security services including:
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud
- Azure Sentinel (SIEM)
- Azure Policy and Blueprints
- Azure AD security features(MFA Conditional Access PIM)
- Ability tocollaborate and communicate effectivelywith cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
- Certification such asMicrosoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500).
- Experience withInfrastructure-as-Code(Terraform Bicep) for secure deployments.
- Exposure toDevSecOps practicesand CI/CD pipeline security.
