Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Spring 2026 TDS Proteins Development Drug Product Development (DPD) Co-Op located in Malvern PA.

Research & Development Co-op Overview:

J&J R&D encompasses the development of sophisticated materials process improvements risk management and mechanical testing through the development process across all sectors including Pharmaceutical Medical Device Consumer and Corporate/Enterprise.

You will have the opportunity to learn about anatomy disease states deformities and the surgical procedure/products used to address these conditions.

Life as an R&D Co-Op:

The R&D Co-Op program provides each student with real-life hands-on experience coaching and mentoring networking opportunities as well as the opportunity to meet people from various schools throughout the country. Each Co-Op will be assigned to a single function with a specific project for the 6-month term.

Key Responsibilities:

The TDS Proteins Development DPD organization is seeking a candidate to develop computational and small-scale models to support filing of pharmaceutical this role the Co-Op will...

Research factors that affect formulation properties and equipment parameters.
Learn and become proficient on lab equipment including viscometers densitometers etc.
Design and execute studies including development of test fixtures (3D printing small scale equipment design etc).
Develop models including computation software and/or statistical models (R Minitab etc).
Draft technical reports summarizing the work to help provide platform guidance.
Analyze and interpret experimental results using analytical and statistical techniques. Actively participate in weekly meetings with internal and external collaborators.
Participate in technical discussions on design of experiments to fill gaps in knowledge.
Maintain a laboratory notebook and other technical documents according to required guidelines.
Provide other project support as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

Chemical Engineering Biomedical Engineering and related majors are preferred.
Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of a co-op assignment pursuing a Bachelors or equivalent experience Masters or PhD degree or equivalent experience. For students pursuing their Bachelors degree or equivalent experience Juniors or Seniors are preferred.
Minimum GPA of 2.8 is required.
Completion of Undergraduate Freshmen year at an accredited University is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

Candidate must have previous process engineering experience.
Candidate with CFD modeling (COMSOL Ansys) CAD Statistics (DOE) and/or modeling (R Python) experience is preferred but not required.
Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g. FI H1-B status)
Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills is required
Excellent communication presentation and leadership skills are preferred
Ability to balance multiple projects and initiatives while performing results
Must be a self-starter works independently while supplying to the team goals
Proven leadership/participation with campus programs and/or community service activities is desired

Preferred:

Students with basic laboratory skills and experience in research experimental design & execution and data analysis preferred.
