    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Summary/Objective:The Migrant Youth Advocate will work under the directionMigrant Youth Facilitator (MEGA)to offer early intervention targeting migrant students least likely to graduate and attend post-secondary education. This includes providing counseling advising tutoring mentoring family involvement activities career education programs and activities post-secondary information workshops and college campus visits.

    Essential Functions:
    • Identify and enroll students in theMigrant program in maintaining retention promotion and graduation of a caseload of students assessing students interests needs and goals.
    • Contact all active students at least once every week especially those with greater academic needs and low grades to provide individual guidance resources and support to successfully pass required classes throughout each academic term.
    • Provide academic and linguistic support via UNC Tutoring Program.
    • Provide academic resources on an individual basis (school supplies) as needed.
    • Monthly accountability reports - Electronic reports including detailed information on student academic status attendance behavior contact dates etc. These reports must reports must reach the program facilitator at the end of each month.
    • Provide students with information about education opportunities financial aid career exploration motivation and self-awareness through workshops and individual counseling advising and mentoring.
    • Provide support for grant expectations goals objectives and activities in accordance with state and federal law.
    • Maintain timely and accurate records of attendance program participation grades enrollment information notes files and any other program related data and assist with the decision making process analyzing/evaluating the data.
    • Facilitate the completion of college applications financial aid applications summer enrichment opportunities scholarships college prep coursework etc.
    • Assist with the collaboration of Greeley-Evans School District 6 office managers counselors teachers parents and administrators throughout the year.
    • Participate in staff meetings team building and development sessions professional development opportunities school faculty meetings and district/department meetings.
    • Develop and maintain relationships and networks with college partners counselors tutors and student support services business partnersetc.
    • Provide information and referrals of community and education resources.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Qualifications:
    • Be aware of and understand the needs of the immigrant high poverty and homeless student populations in order to ensure that all children and youth have equitable access to a free and appropriate public education including a public preschool education
    • Strong writing organization computer presentation skills and public speaking skills.
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
    • Bilingual (e.g. Spanish) preferred.
    • Demonstrated respect for and understanding of all students/families regardless of background with a positive attitude.
    • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Ability to embrace customer service teamwork judgment and problem solving skills with an emphasis on high quality work and time management.
    • Ability to follow oral and written directives and instructions.
    • Ability to use a computer and programs effectively: data entry.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to perform all functions of the position.
