About the role
As a Disability Support Worker working within our Supported Independent Living homes youll provide person-centred support that empowers people with disability to build independence confidence and connection. No two days are the same one day you might be supporting someone to learn new life skills the next helping them get out into the community or achieve a personal goal.
Youll be part of a supportive team that genuinely cares about the people we support and about each other.
This role required availability for 6 sleepover shifts per fortnight. Other day shifts are available after a period of time. Permanent part time hours up to 48 per fortnight located at SIL home in Kingaroy.
What youll be doing
- Supporting people with daily living activities personal care and routines
- Assisting clients with manual handling using hoists and slings
- Encouraging independence choice and inclusion
- Supporting community access social activities and wellbeing
- Building trusted relationships with clients families and colleagues
- Maintaining safe respectful and positive environments
What were looking for
- A caring patient and respectful approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Reliability and a positive can-do attitude
- Availability to work a range of shifts (including mornings afternoons evenings weekends and sleepovers penalty rates apply)
- The capacity to meet the physical requirements as manual handling tasks are involved
- A Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is advantageous but not required
If youre new to the sector well support you with training and development.
You will be required to hold or willing to obtain
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
- First Aid & CPR Certification
- National Criminal History Check (Police Check)
- Australian open Drivers License with comprehensive insurance on your vehicle
