Payroll Specialist
POSITION PURPOSEThe Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately preparing and processing payroll for employees ensuring compliance with federal and multi-state regulations. This role involves maintaining payroll records resolving discrepancies and supporting Finance Accounting and HR teams with payroll-related reporting and analysis.ORGANIZATIONThis position reports to the Payroll Administrator.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees accurately and on time.
- Verify timekeeping records deductions reimbursements and other payroll data for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain payroll information by collecting calculating and entering data into payroll systems.
- Review and reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
- Process new hires terminations and status changes in the payroll system.
- Partner with HR Finance and Operations teams to ensure payroll aligns with benefits accounting systems and time tracking.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll deductions and other related issues.
- Support audits by providing accurate payroll records and reports as needed.
- Utilize digital tools and platforms to ensure smooth communication and documentation in a remote environment.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE- Associates or Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration Human Resources or a related field preferred.
- Must be a U.S. citizen; work sponsorship is not available.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills.
MACHINES & EQUIPMENTThe incumbent must be able to effectively operate the current computer system.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Must be able to talk listen and speak clearly on the telephone.WORKING CONDITIONSPeriodic extended hours during payroll cycles or year-end processing.Security and privacy training will be provided as part of this role to protect the confidentiality integrity and availability of PCS associate and customer data.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
