Job Summary

Position Summary:

The role of the Tutor Coordinator will be to coordinate all tutoring efforts and services for Undergraduate students. The Tutor coordinator will oversee the daily operations and quality control of the online tutoring platform which is available to undergraduate on campus students undergraduate online students and graduate Students. This role will also serve as a liaison between academic schools/departments and the Grizzly Testing and Learning Center to ensure the direction of tutoring efforts. The Tutor Coordinator may also meet with students to discuss study strategies and to connect them to other resources on campus.

This position is a 10-month Contract (August-May) .83 FTE.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of all campus tutoring efforts.

  • Promotion of tutoring options to students.

  • Exploration and development of new technologies to support tutoring and student learning.

  • Assessment and evaluation of tutoring strategies and services.

  • Management of campus tutoring venues including the Grizzly Tutoring and STEM Center located in Porter Hall:

    • Maintaining supplies.

    • Providing a welcoming environment for all ASU students.

  • Supervise work study students and peer tutors for courses across campus.

  • Data tracking for services provided including students being support and courses they are seeking tutoring for.

  • Collaboration with departments in regards to Supplemental Instructor (SI) implementation.

  • Hiring training and supervising peer tutors supplemental instructors student employees peer note takes and test readers.

  • Coordinates training opportunities with other peer tutoring programs on campus.

  • Manages scheduling of students with peer tutors and student employees work schedules.

  • Lead training on software administration including the expansion and training to other tutoring centers and labs on campus.

  • Meeting individually with students and tutors on an as needed basis.

  • Update tutoring website as necessary.

  • Assisting with Academic SOS program

  • Assist with the occasional proctoring of exams at the Grizzly Testing and Learning Center. This includes:

    • Intaking exam instruction and requests.

    • Scheduling student appointments.

    • Answering the front desk phone line.

    • Proctoring exams.

    • Assisting professors/instructors picking up exams.

    • Assisting with coverage for the front desk.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree required.

  • 2 years previous work experience.

  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to take initiative and be proactive in collaborating with campus and external partners.

  • Ability and interest in working with diverse student populations.

  • Strong desire to work with students.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking.

  • 2 years previous work experience in Higher Education or K-12

  • Experience with managing and training peer tutors.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $ (10-Month Contract (August- May) paid over 12 months).
