Job Summary

  • Multiple opportunities are available across the School of Molecular Sciences in the broad disciplines of Chemistry Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Genetics.
  • Positions are full-time appointment on a tenurable basis.
  • Base salary range: Level B $118150 $139812 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The School of Molecular Sciences has a dedicated award-winning team of teaching and research academics providing undergraduate and post-graduate programmes across multiple disciplines including Chemistry Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and research the School also spans a wide range of disciplines within the broad remit of molecular science with groups often comprising multi- and trans-disciplinary researchers who work with industry to produce solutions to a range of challenges within human microbial and plant biochemistry; chemical biology; structural biology; molecular genetics; omics technologies; synthetic biology; synthetic organic and inorganic chemistry; materials chemistry; and nanotechnologies. The School has a strong PhD cohort supported by successful externally funded research programmes. Collaborations exist with national and international universities industry hospitals and community stakeholders that generate high quality publications patents and spin-out companies.

The School is currently comprised of balanced Teaching and Research and dedicated Education-focused academic staff who together deliver excellence in teaching and research across Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Genetics and Chemistry. Teaching in the School is supported inclusive and delivered collaboratively with dedicated and experienced technical and administrative staff.

  • Develop your capacity to deliver high-quality teaching and research in molecular sciences contributing to and enhancing the Schools cross-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary initiatives.
  • Lead and collaborate on research projects aligned with the Schools priorities disseminate findings through high-quality publications and attract competitive research funding.
  • Supervise research students at undergraduate masters and PhD levels and build an externally funded research program of impact.
  • Translate research evidence into best practices that enrich the learning experience of our students and remain relevant to our graduates future careers workplaces and research endeavours.
  • Develop skills and experience through service to School and University operations including exercising leadership in its affairs and providing service to the government the scholarly community and the broader public.

About you

  • You will have a PhD in Chemistry Molecular Biosciences (such as Biochemistry Genetics Cell Biology Molecular Biology Structural Biology Synthetic Biology Bioinformatics or a closely related field) or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience.
  • You will have highly developed written and verbal communication skills and bring diversity of thinking and decision-making to the School of Molecular Sciences.
  • Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively within a team.
