The Coating Inspector is the Companys authorized representative and is to observe the progress and inspect all coating and painting activities in his/her assigned areas in accordance with Company drawings plans and specifications. This is a contract position in Princeton Ontario. The length of the contract could be up to a year.
The Coating Inspector (QC) will:
- Oversee the painting and/or coating crew to ensure compliance (e.g. drawings specifications codes standards regulations contractors site-specific quality plan/contract).
- Observe and report coating activities such as:
- Surface preparation activities.
- Inspection of surface preparation activities such as solvent cleaning hand and power tool cleaning blast cleaning etc.
- Verification of paint products before application.
- Coating application process by brush roller or sprayed to surfaces including mixing process induction time pot life etc.
- Inspection of paintings and/or coatings applied by brush roller or spray to surfaces.
- Witness and/or perform and report inspection activities such as:
- Monitor weather conditions.
- Surface contamination tests.
- Surface profile verification.
- WFT and DFT verification.
- Adhesion test.
- Holiday test.
- Etc.
- Work with the paint crew to ensure that painting and/or coating specification requirements are implemented.
- Ensures that all painting and/or coating personnel hold the appropriate qualification(s).
- Create and foster a positive work environment and a proactive/mature safety culture.
- Identify construction painting and/or coating and/or safety non-conformance issues and report.
- Records management associated with construction painting and/or coating documentation.
- Complete inspection reports in accordance with applicable Company Inspection Standards.
Qualifications :
- NACE CIP Level 2 or AMPP CIP Level 2
- NACE CIP Level 3 or AMPP CIP Level 3
- Knowledge of the latest codes and standards
- 2 years of Coating Inspection experience
- Minimum of 5 years of shop inspection experience (vendor surveillance).
- Ideal candidate would have steel structure inspection experience.
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a team as well as independently
- Very strong knowledge of and experience with industry processes and procedures
- Work schedule: 8 hours a day starting in January 2026 for at approximately a year.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
- The contractor will need to provide their own equipment.
- The contractor needs to be an independent contractor (IC)
