Mechanical Drafter Automotive Industry
A well-established Australian business operating within the automotive industry is seeking an experienced Mechanical Drafter to join its engineering team based in Adelaide. This is a hands-on technical role working closely with engineers to support the design development and manufacture of specialised transport equipment.
About the Role
Produce 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks as the primary design tool
Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and associated engineering documentation
Develop concept and proposal drawings to meet design requirements and client specifications
Support design and development activities from concept through to manufacture
Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and regulatory requirements
Assist with general engineering administration and documentation
Key Responsibilities
CAD modelling drafting and drawing updates primarily in SolidWorks
Produce accurate compliant technical drawings to AS1100 standards
Generate engineering documentation including specifications procedures and drawing registers
Review designs identify issues and contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement
Manage time effectively to meet project timelines and deadlines
Work both independently and collaboratively within an established engineering team
Skills & Experience
Minimum 4 years experience in mechanical drafting or mechanical design
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (essential)
Diploma of Engineering Drafting or a strong trade / workshop background
Intermediate experience with 2D CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD DraftSight)
Solid understanding of technical drawing standards particularly AS1100
Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to follow direction while also working autonomously when required.
