Commercial Lines Underwriter II
Here is what a typical day looks like
- Gathering and investigating background information in order to effectively assess risk involved
- Analyzing and classifying assigned applications to determine acceptability and establishing rates and premiums
- Negotiating terms and conditions of coverage including pricing on renewals cancellations new business and midterm changes
- Implementing underwriting alternatives based on authority supporting business and exclusions
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with brokers with a commitment to service
- Responding to inquiries from insurance agents regarding underwriting processes and decisions interpretation of policy forms and coverage and premium levels
- Providing service throughout the policy period approving routine changes to existing coverage and responding to inquiries from the agent and client
- Contributing to the evaluation of agency performance and issues
- Mentoring junior underwriting staff in underwriting theory technical and soft skill fundamentals. Coaching and guiding with respect to service standards as well as supporting in underwriting for senior underwriters
- Conducting comprehensive file reviews with client contacts and appropriately documenting files
- Contributing to the development of underwriting policy procedures and guidelines
The value you bring
- General Insurance Level 2 License required CIP or CAIB preferred
- 1 year of Underwriting experience an asset
- Professional communication etiquette both written and verbal
- Adept in retrieving customer data efficiently
- Involvement in industry related associations and your community

- Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time)
- Location: Remote in Canada (With Correct Licensing)
- Salary Range: $60000 - $80000
