Math Specialists provide leadership and leverage their expertise in mathematics instruction to improve student learning. Math Specialists introduce implement and engage Adminstration Staff and Parents with innovative instructional strategies that take the educational experience to a whole new level!

Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking an experienced educator to join our team as aMath Specialist! The answer is simple: You SCPS Excellence!

Essential Functions:

Collaborates with Administration Staff and the Supervisor of Teaching and Learning in the development and implementation of programs and strategies for the improvement of student achievement in mathematics.
Providesleadership and support to appropriate teachers and paraprofessionals to increase their content knowledge in mathematics and to teach new instructional strategies through collaboration with teachers through coaching cycles and modeling lessons in teachers classrooms (to include ELLs Special Education and inclusion classes).
Collaborates with teachers and Professional Learning Committees (PLCs) to develop and improve mathematics curriculum.
Develops and facilitates ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers.
Plans and coordinates the implementation of opportunities for school-based family engagement in mathematics (i.e. STEAM Night Math night etc.).

Education and Experience:

Masters Degree from an accredited college or university.
Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License
Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement (Math Specialist) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
Five (5) years of recent full-time and successful teaching experience.
