The Department of Corrections Division of Administration and Support / Information Technology is recruiting for an Analyst/Programmer 2/3/4 position located in Anchorage Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:
Serves as an analyst/programmer team member for the Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). Additionally perform analysis design development documentation testing deployment maintenance and support activities required to create or modify in-house applications used in support of the departments data processing and information technology needs.

This Unit provides support to Alaskas prison system and maintains ACOMS to ensure appropriate documentation and tracking of all persons placed under the departments custody/supervision. There are more than 5000 people under the department of corrections custody and an additional 5000 that are under supervision as assigned by the Alaska Court System. Maintaining the internal system is integral in the successful operations of the department.
The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The Anchorage Office is located in downtown Anchorage. This position will interface daily with a variety of people institutional and probation field offices other managers directors and the Commissioners Office.

Analyst/Programmer 2
One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of the experience must have been in a business application scientific application microcomputer or computer system user support specialty.
Substitution:
A bachelors degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS) or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for all of the required experience. An associates degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.
Analyst/Programmer 3
Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application scientific application microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.
Substitution:
A bachelors degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS) or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience. An associates degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.
Analyst/Programmer 4
Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application scientific application microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.

A bachelors degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS) or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience. An associates degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.
Special Note:
An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. Under this option an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.
Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.
For some positions in these job classes a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.

CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS
Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidates eligibility. If hired at the lower level you will be promoted to the higher-level job class after completing the training plan and meeting the minimum qualifications.CLASSIFICATION STUDY NOTICE
