Evolv is seeking a Senior SQA Engineer to design test plansvalidatenew features and ensure quality across our physical product lines. This role is essential for qualifying new hardware supporting existing systems in production and driving quality across ExpressExpedite and Evolvs next-generation platforms.

Success in the Role: What performance outcomes will you work toward completing

In 30 days you will:

• Build a foundational understanding of Evolvs product ecosystem especially the Express platform architecture and core features.
• Perform manual regression and functional testing on new and existing capabilities.
• LearnEvolvs SQA toolchain including automation frameworks CI/CD workflows and SDLC processes.
• Become comfortable using Jira TestRail and internal reporting tools.
• Assistin debugging test failures documenting issues and collaborating with engineering teams to understand root causes.

In 3 months you will:

• Take ownership of manual testing tasks across key functional areas of the Express and Expedite platforms.
• Identifytest cases that couldbenefitfrom automation and contribute to the automation backlog.
• Suggest small improvements to test processes documentation or tooling.
• Support releasereadiness testing and help deliver clear quality updates for Express releases.

Within 12 months you will:

• Develop subjectmatterexpertisein multiple functional areas of Express and Expedite.
• Become a reliable resource for testing new featuresvalidatingfixes and understanding system behavior.
• Provide input during feature planning and design discussions from an SQA perspective.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Evolvs testing practices documentation and quality processes.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing a regular basis

As an entrylevel SQA Engineeryoullhelpvalidatecomplex systems that combine hardware embedded firmware networking and cloud handson experience across testing debugging analysis and crossteam collaboration. Core responsibilities include:

Hardware and Software Integration:

• Test Evolv systems across different configurations tablets sensors and hardware variants.
• Assistinvalidatingnew hardware components and embedded system behavior.
• Help ensure proper integration across sensors processors and peripherals.

Manual Testing & System Verification

• Execute regressionfunctional and endtoend system tests for Express and Expedite.
• Evaluate product behavior across ondevice software hardware modules and Portal connectivity.
• Validate new features and enhancements for correctness usability and performance.

Automation Support

• Work with automation engineers toidentifyhighvalue test cases for automation.
• Contribute to writing or updating automated tests (Python experience is a plus).
• Learn how to run and interpret automated test results.

Networking & Communications Testing

• Assistin validating WiFi and Ethernet communication between scanners tablets and Evolvs Portal.
• Help analyze network issues such as packet loss interference or connectivity failures.
• Use tools like Wireshark oriPerfto capture traces and inspect network behavio

Areas you will learn to evaluate:

• 802.11 standards(a/b/g/n/ac/ax)
• Wi-Fi roaming SNR RSSI and interference
• WPA2/WPA3 security behavior
• DHCP DNS NAT port forwarding
• Network load throughput jitter and latency characteristics

Defect Analysis Troubleshooting & Quality Reporting

• Help triage bugs andassistinidentifyingroot causes.
• Write clear reproducible defect reports.
• Communicate testing results and risks to engineering and product teams.

Release Coordination

• Support releasereadiness testing and validation.
• Help ensure releases meet quality gates and coverage expectations.
• Collaborate with Release Engineering DevOps and Product teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with developers hardware engineers product managers and automation engineers.
• Provide early feedback during feature development.
• Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement efforts.

Where is the rolelocated

This role is basedonsiteout of the HQ in Waltham Massachusetts with some flexibility in being remote some days.

Compensation and Transparency Statement

The base salary range for this full-time position is$69000- $111000. In addition to base salary this role offers a competitive target bonus equity and a comprehensive benefits package. This range reflects our commitment to pay transparency and equity in alignment with applicable state laws. Our compensation ranges aredeterminedbased on factors such as role level location market benchmarks and internal equity. The posted rangerepresentsthe good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this role across U.S. locations. Actual compensation within the range will be based on the candidates skills experience education and geographic location.

WiFi & Networking (Foundational Knowledge)

• Basic understanding of 802.11 WiFi standards and wireless system behavior.

• Exposure to troubleshooting WiFi issues (roaming RSSI SNR interference).

• Familiarity with networking fundamentals: DHCP DNS NAT routing security.

• Experience with tools like Wireshark oriPerfis a plus.
  

Hardware Embedded Systems & SQA

• Coursework or internship experience with hardware/software systems microcontrollers or embedded platforms.
• Strong manual testing skills and attention to detail.
• Exposure toautomated testing or scripting (Python preferred).
• Familiarity with sensors peripherals or serial communication is helpful.
  

Process & Tooling

• Experience with Jira TestRail Git/GitHub or similar tools (coursework or internship experience acceptable).
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and Agile methodologies.
• Strong troubleshooting documentation and communication skills.
  

Education

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Electrical or Systems Engineering or equivalent experience.
